The combination of bourbon whiskey and maple syrup adds more complexity to the flavour profile for these delicious wings. These are made for devouring on game night, or while cozied up at home in front of a good movie. Plan ahead and make a little extra because they are just as delicious reheated the next day.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken wings
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsps grated onion (use small hole grater)
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 3/4 cup Sweet Ontario maple syrup
- 2 tbsps tomato paste
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- Note you can add Sriracha sauce or Tabasco sauce to add some spice to this recipe
Directions
Maple Bourbon Glaze
- Melt butter in a saucepan on medium heat.
- Add the grated onion and cook until softened.
- Add the bourbon, Sweet Ontario maple syrup, tomato paste, salt, pepper, and whatever spice you want and whisk until combined.
- Simmer for approximately five minutes, or until thickened enough to coat a spoon.
Bake the Wings
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Arrange wings on tinfoil covered roasting pan.
- Roast the wings for 20 minutes on each side or until done.
Coat Wings
- Once cooked, place wings in a bowl and toss with sauce.
